2009 in Photos

So, 2009 in photos was obviously a huge bust! I had great intentions and made it through mid-April.

I think I'm ready to try again for 2010. Meet my new assistant, the Canon EOS500 t1i! Isn't she gorgeous? We were brought together on Christmas morning, and I have a LOT of learning to do.

My goal is to get to know my new camera and fire up this blog back up for 2010. Keep posted to see if I can achieve my goal!

Poor Blog

I don't know if anyone even regularly checks this blog or not! My last post was almost two months ago. Believe it or not, I was taking photographs almost every day in that time. Life and work got to be CRAZY, and I didn't get around to posting the photos.

I'll put a poll up for the next week to see if you care whether or not I catch up or even continue this blog. (Google Readers - please open the blog and vote.)

Crazy rain yesterday, thick fog this morning. At least there's something entertaining me during my morning commute.

Mindy likes the new bed that I bought her last week.

Pardon her evil eyes!

I made lasagna for the first time in years today. And it was good! Go me! :)

You can burrow your nose in the covers, but I can still see you!

Two years ago we learned that we had lost our first baby. A song that meant a lot to me kept coming on the radio in the days and weeks following that terrible day. It's on the radio again today, and we're still trying to keep holding on.

I love this photo frame. It's in our back hall, so I see it as I leave and come home each day. Our friends made it for us and displayed it at our engagement party for everyone to sign. The notes written by family and friends are so special to us. There is even one written by my grandmother and signed "Mary the Great."

Todd entertained me by shaving the goatee he's been sporting to a motorcycle 'stache. I came home to find this:

I cannot believe he let me take a picture. Granted, it's awful of me but hilarious of him! (The things I do for this blog.) Todd made me PROMISE not to put it on my Facebook, and it is not. Please don't tell him you saw this photo. If he finds out, he'll beat me like I'm his motorcycle bitch. :) hahaha

I was so exhausted after a long day that I didn't realize until Todd came home that I put on two different slippers. I was too exhausted to care at that point!

I don't know why my legs look all freckled. They aren't.

I'm good about cooking on Mondays (the rest of the week is not so good), and I made Crash Hot Potatoes with our dinner. This pic reminds me that I need to start digging out my point & shoot since my phone takes sucky photos!

Walking the big dogs is a big job!

Pippin - sit and smile! Never mind. Just ignore the paparazzi!

Stevie sit! Good boy. You so tired from dat walk. Poor baby dog.

Chardonnay, hummus, and garlic chips = yum.

Oh thank Heaven for 7-11. The world would not be complete without Slurpees - especially peach/mango/Coke/cherry/pina colada Slurpees!

Thursday, April 16, 2009

"I'm old and tired. Can ya just let me sleep?" Mindy complains.

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Why I'm so tired after grocery shopping. I buy the whole store, cart it around, and load in the car. Then I go home and have to cook it. Hate it!

Wonder how hard it would be to make these? Probably easier since my pets are cuter than the ones in the frames! ha!

LOVE THIS! What I want to do - or have done - to our cabinetry.

Mexican Wontons = YUM

Recipe on our blog.

Pippin takes on Sarah as her surrogate mom. They're in love, thick as thieves, gazing lovingly into one another's eyes, resting comfortably with one another.

In a box.
For sale.

Not for me, though.

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Unlike her boyfriend, Steve, Pippin is all lady. She even crosses her paws while sleeping.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Steve knows not what modesty is. What a man.

WHY do you people wake me up so early?

Monday, April 6, 2009

Score! Lipstick on sale for only $1 each. Now that's some exciting stuff.

My grandmother's obituary in the paper. Still doesn't seem real.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

LAUNDRY. If you avoid it, will it go away?

Friday, April 3, 2009

Todd told me that he has a ghost leaving him love messages. Wonder who that ghost is? :)

My Epilady
Spinning metal coils
Ripping hairs from legs

A little pain now
Ends with small red bumps
Then lovely smoothness

Dear City of Dallas,

COME REPAIR THIS @#$!&* POTHOLE IN OUR ALLEY!! And I'm not fooling . . .

Awesome candle I bought at Hobby Lobby yesterday. The smell really reminds me of my grandmother. FYI - Mary didn't smell like a "grandmother." ;)

WANT. I think I'll try to make one first.

Sunday, March 29, 2009

I know the purpose of Project 365 is to record the pictures you take each day. Well, this is my blog so I'm doing it like I want. Here are a few of the many wonderful photos I have of my grandmother.

Mary (holding me) with my Mom and Dad. Circa mid-year, 1968.

Mary, my Mom, and I on my wedding day. March 10, 2007.

Mary, my Mom and I - The last photo I have of us together, taken at our house in July of 2008.

I can't believe that I will never see Mary again. At least not here on Earth. I love you and miss you terribly. I cannot believe that you are gone. Rest in peace, my little Grandmother.

Saturday, March 28, 2009

This will be the worst day of the year for my family. We lost my grandmother Mary today.

This morning Mary brightened Heaven while leaving a hole here on Earth. She passed away peacefully at home with my grandfather nearby and my mom by her side at 5:20 am. Mary’s battle with cancer lasted almost 30 years, and she fought with courage, strength, style, and grace. Our family is thankful that we had Mary as long as we did, yet her absence is already profound and painful. We rejoice that she is now with the Lord and the many love ones that preceded her in death.

(Disclaimer: Ignore my fat, wrinkly hands and the terrible color of this photo that makes my nails look yellow & green.)

Todd proposed!

Again!!! Actually, my "romantical" husband recommended that we have our wedding rings engraved for our two year anniversary. I got my ring back today. And made Todd ask me to marry him. Again. I said "YES!". Again.

He said I can't plan another wedding. EVER. He's so unromantical sometimes.

Calm before the storm . . .

All of our fourth graders participated in a teleconference with the National Archive Museum. It was great! Until the storm came . . .

Well, there wasn't actually a storm - just a fire drill! Right in the middle of our session! In the rain! Yes, we are a flexible group. The kids did great. Not even a fake fire can keep us down.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Want! I might break down and try to make these. Maybe.

Of course my dogs and cat would be MUCH cuter than the ones shown here.

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Why can't the garbage collectors put the cans back where they found them?

Monday, March 23, 2009

My weekend before:

Although you can't see it, I spent several hours ripping out Asian Jasmine that had previously been ground cover for this bed around our Magnolia. Man hands were killing me before I even finished.

My weekend after (taken w/ cell phone):

I planted Zinnias, Mexican Heather, and Verbena. I planted them sparsely and mulched in between. You can't really tell here, but I promise it looks better than this photo shows!

Spent Sunday morning freezing to death watching my oldest niece, Whitney, and her Olympic Development team play soccer. Her team won 2nd place in the nation!

I'm so proud of Whit. She's really a great kid.

My new score from Crop Chocolate - a Making Memories desktop carousel!

THIS is what caused the massive dog-barking meltdown this morning that awoke me from my restful Spring Break slumber.

One trapped, hundreds to go! Enjoy your life in the park, you little wall-scraping, wire-chewing, nesting, scampering, scurrying bastard.

Taxes, taxes, taxes.

And these are just my prescription receipts for last year.

Leftovers from "Date Day." Lunch Taco Cabana & a movie at the IMax Theater. I didn't eat much at lunch, so I could enjoy my movie popcorn. I still couldn't eat it all!
